Dear friendz...
As we go out in EDISON, we r still observing the decorations of 'Halloween celebrations'.
IWhen ever  see them,  I am recollecting and comparing the scenes of harvest in India.
Methink, halloween' is similer to either 'Dassehra' or 'Sankranthi'.we too in India, give importance to pumpkins. We too pay gratitude to our parted souls of the house.
We too decorate the houses with  'vari kankulu' (rice branches).

I think Halloween descriptions  r similar to that of our 'Dussehra' also. We in India, in Bhadrapada masam, after pournami. consider those fifteen days (krishna pakshm) as 'non-auspecious' days. In those days, any type of traditional pujas are not recommended.
In Telangana region, those fifteen days are considered as 'saddula batukamma' and the following Amavasya is 'pettara amavasya' and the some communities of society pay their homage to the departed souls on the whole,on that day.
Halloween is also in one way recalling the departed souls and paying homage to them. To get rid of the 'fear' factor, homes and surroundings are decorated with unusual threatening things.
But, I have seen some churches decorated totally with pumpkins. In some houses, pumpkin rows were arranged.

Any how I felt very happy during this season, going around homes along with my grandson Akshaj and asking for 'trick or treat' at every house.
